Disney Summer of Service

The Walt Disney Company and YSA are working together this summer to inspire kids and families to create a brighter tomorrow through the Disney Summer of Service campaign. Youth can use fun summer activities – like sports, arts, reading, and being in nature – to join Disney in a movement to make the world healthier, greener, and stronger. Kids who volunteer – with their friends or family, or on their own – can apply for a $500 Disney Be Inspired Summer of Service grant to create a project or expand an existing project throughout the rest of the year at www.YSA.org/BeInspired

Family H2O Science Labs

If you like helping kids and their parents learn about caring for our planet, please consider volunteering at one of our upcoming Family H20 Science Labs!

We will have several stations, and each volunteer will be in charge of guiding the activities at one station. Parents with children will travel from station to station throughout the event. The entire event is exploration-focused, relaxed, and fun for families. Here is a list of the possible stations we’ll have, depending on the number of volunteers: Learn about the water cycle, groundwater flow, and where we get our water here in Phoenix. Each station has materials for exploration, demonstration, or arts and crafts for families to do together.

Please contact Christian or Canyon at conservation@phoenix.govor 602-534-3950 if you are interested in volunteering at any of the events!

“We’re Cool” Community Outreach

Join the City of Phoenix for our We’re Cool kick-off event! To prepare for the heat of summer, we need to get the word out about places where people can go throughout the city to stay cool. This morning of outreach to spread the word about cooling refuges will take place near Eastlake Park, at the light rail platform at 12th Street and Jefferson. From 6:45-9am on Wednesday, June 14th, volunteers will hand out maps of the cooling refuges and bottles of water to people using public transit and in the surrounding area. The media, Mayor Greg Stanton and other elected officials will be present. 20-30 volunteers needed.

Contact Willa Altman-Kaough to for more information and to volunteer. She can be reached at 602-534-1605 or willa.altman-kaough@phoenix.gov.
